Soccer girls start off the season strong

by Lucas Bandstra

The PC girls soccer team has started off the season with a record of 6-3. They have had solid wins against DMC (2-1), Centerville (10-0), Chariton (5-0), Indianola (2-0), Ballard (2-0), and Grinnell (3-2).

Coach Mike Buchheit agrees that the girls are playing well, but there’s always things to work on. “We must work on our ability to connect passes with both feet and improve effectiveness within various positions,” said Buchheit.

In order to win a few games, the girls have had to use the team’s strengths to their advantage. Coach Buchheit believes his team’s strengths are coachability and speed. “Unless each player is willing to accept their role within the team, and be coachable, it is difficult to make improvements as a team,” said Buchheit.

The girls have just a couple weeks of games until their first regional game on May 30.
