To all of you who have Netflix and are looking for a new TV show to binge-watch, you’re in luck. Stranger Things is a must-see show since it contains a little of everything for everyone, and I mean everyone. The story plot is about a boy named Will who vanishes, and the whole town, including his friends, tries to find him. When Will’s friends search for him in the woods, they encounter a mysterious girl who’s running away from the “bad guys.” After they meet her, a string of weird events happen. But stranger things have happened…or have they?
As you watch, you can tell that the show is strongly influenced by ‘80s movies like E.T. and The Goonies. One reference is that Winona Ryder, one of the cast members, acted in some ‘80s movies when she was a teenager. Stranger Things is a mix of suspense, mystery, humor at times, and of course, a little of romance.
The show was created on July 15, 2016, and won the MTV Movie and TV Awards for Show of the Year this past summer. Some of the main actors are Millie Bobby Brown, who won MTV Movie and TV Award for Best Actor in a Show, Gaten Matarazzo, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, and Caleb McLaughlin. Eight episodes aired in the first season, and each episode ranges from 42 to 52 minutes in length. On October 27, the second season is premiering on Netflix. When you finish watching (or binge-watching) the show, you’ll never look at Eggo Waffles and the number eleven the same again.
