Shine dance team earn Division I ratings at state

During their pom routine, Shine performed to “Thunderstruck.”

The PC Shine dance team earned three Division I rating as well as the Excellence in Academics award in the state competition at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on November 30. The nine girls performed three routines: jazz, pom, and lyrical, which they learned in late August through early September.

The team tried a new type of routine this season. “This year is exciting, because we have not brought three dance routines to state before, and as a team, lyrical is new to us,” said junior co-captain Chloee Reimer.

Some say that the best part of the season up to this point has been going to state for a variety of reasons. “A highlight so far is definitely being at the state competition and watching some awesome routines and seeing what we like and what we don’t like to improve our dances next year,” said junior Emma Stravers. “It’s fun to be in Wells Fargo Arena with a bunch of girls who all have the same passion as you. I also enjoy seeing all the different colored costumes, hair, and makeup, once again getting ideas for next year.”
