Boys and girls basketball teams end seasons in gritty games

Basketball has come to an end for the girls and boys varsity basketball teams. Both teams lost in close, gritty games.

The girls team got a ‘bye’ the first round of tournaments, and so they played their first regional game on February 13 vs East Marshall and won 64-17. On Friday, February 16, the girls played #13 Pekin at Eddyville and lost 45-37. At halftime, the score was 14-14. A third quarter run by Pekin allowed a 29-22 lead into the fourth quarter. The Eagles weren’t able to make a final run. The girls ended their season with a record of 12-11.

The boys basketball team soundly defeated South Hardin in the first round of the playoffs on February 12. After the end of the first quarter, the Eagles were up 22-1 and looking strong. They finished the game winning 72-49. On February 15, PC played #3 East Marshall in the Mustang’s home gym and lost 41-43. The boys finished their season with a record of 8-15.
