Senior Raeann Fopma heard the news that her college tuition was completely paid for on February 28. Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois, gave her the Founders Scholarship which pays for her schooling all four years of college as long as and 3.75 GPA is kept. Raeann’s food and dorm room are the only expenses she will be responsible for.
In the past five years three PC seniors have been awarded the Founders Scholarship: Jimmy Beyer, who is finishing his freshman year; Morgan DeRuiter, who is finishing up her senior year; and Fopma. Fopma will be starting her journey in Palos Heights this fall.
“To me, this full ride is ample evidence that God has big plans for me in Palos Heights, and I’m excited to see what they are. I’m still so incredibly honored to receive this scholarship, and thank God every day for how He has worked in my life,” she said.
Four other PC students were in the running for the Founders Scholarship. “When I applied for the scholarship, I definitely didn’t think I would get it,” said Fopma “I was excited when I made it to the finalists, because I was happy just to get to visit the college and meet other prospective Trinity freshmen, but still didn’t imagine that I was an actual contender!” said Raeann.
Because she thought she wouldn’t be getting the scholarship, Raeann used the the weekend to have fun and meet new people. “I was certainly overwhelmed when I found out I was getting the Founder’s scholarship, and incredibly surprised!” she said.
She met with her admissions counselor thinking they were just going to catch up and answer any other questions she had. When Fopma’s parents walked in, she became very confused, and that’s when she heard the news. “Hearing you won’t have to pay for your college after months of stressing about the expense is an incredible thing! Praise God!” she said.
