The PC girls’ soccer team opened up their season with a 4-4 record. The team of 19, with 15 returning players, is led by their Eagle Leaders, seniors Jordan Van Maanen, Bekah Horstman, Laura DeZwarte, and Makenna Van Dyke.

Playing some of their toughest opponents at the start of the season came as one of their greatest challenges, in not only their games but their morale. Another challenge this season will be filling the roles of departed varsity starters that were key contributors this past season. However the team is strong with the number of returning varsity players that not only played but started on last year’s team.

“Our theme this year is ‘Steady,’ meaning consistent, steady-handed improvement, steady heart and steady mind focused on our godly ways to improve self, improve others, and improve the community/team of players around us.” – said coach Mike Buchheit.

“A highlight of the season for me was beating North Polk. We were definitely the underdogs in that game, and yet we managed to shut them out. I think we played really intensely for the full 80 minutes, and I was so proud of our team.” – said senor Raeann Fopma.
