The town of Pella is having its first Prom Dress Pop-Up Shop! Try saying that three times fast! Hope’s Bridal and Prom, out of Cedar Rapids, is bringing in over 200 brand new 2018 designer gowns to sell at 30% off to local high school/college girls. The best part of it all? The proceeds are going to benefit The Well here in Pella. “The goal of this event is to create awareness for The Well and Hope’s Bridal and Prom, helping local girls find bomb prom dresses at killer prices, while supporting their community!” expressed Eden Youngberg, marketing and advancement director of The Well.

The Well Resource Center, located on Oskaloosa street, serves people struggling with shortages like lack of money, employment, and transportation here in Marion County. Buying a dress at the first annual Pella Prom Dress Pop-Up Shop will directly impact people struggling in our own community.

To market this unique fundraising opportunity, Youngberg and her team decided to get local high school girls to model some of the dresses that are going to be for sale at the pop-up shop. Senior Jaden Joy and junior Chloe Morgan were the two PC models. The sisters and Youngberg had a fun little photoshoot downtown taking pictures around the square in their dresses. “In these promotion pictures, people can see faces they knew in town, and the girls could share the photos and help promote the event on their social media platforms,” said Youngberg. This event is also advertised on posters hung around town, The Well’s social media platforms, radio stations, and by word of mouth.

After the photo shoot, a group of volunteers got together to make the store windows pop with the prom dresses. If you walk by 836 Main Street, or the Transformation Inc. building, you’ll see beautiful gowns! The prom dresses are from top designers such as Sherri Hill, Jovani, and Mac Duggal and will be be sold at 30% off.

The event will take place Saturday, November 17, 9 am-5 pm, Sunday, November 18, 1-5 pm and Monday, November 19, 4-8 pm at 836 Main Street in Pella. Local volunteers, as well as employees from Hope’s Bridal, are going to be helping girls try on dresses. Avoid last minute spring searching, support your local community, and come find your prom dress!
