Teams victorious at academic competitions

PC won 3rd place in division two at the annual Heartland AEA Knowledge Bowl. This team was made up of seniors Kyle Howey, Levi Jansen, Bethany Spencer, Jaed Van Maanen, and junior Isaiah Gritters, and was one of two teams who competed on October 25 in the event held at DMACC.“Knowledge Bowl was a great experience. Everyone on the team contributed, and it’s always fun to test your knowledge in a competitive environment with people from schools all around Iowa,” said Van Maanen.

Spanish teams also took third place at the annual Spanish Quiz Bowl, with the Spanish III team taking 3rd and Spanish IV tying for 3rd. Spanish teacher Jason Noble brought three teams that competed in multiple events to earn points, including readers’ theatre, trivia, music, and storytelling.  “This competition continues to show how strong our Spanish program is,” said Noble. “Students compete against larger schools that spend much more time preparing and (we) still consistently finish in the top three.”
