Strike! The PC bowling season is in full swing and head Coach Rod Blunck is very happy with the number of bowlers. “With there being 8 girls and 16 boys out, we have some pretty good numbers this season,” said Blunck.

The team practices once a week, after school every Wednesday at Pella Excit-A-Bowl. There are six meets scheduled for this season in which all 24 bowlers will be able to compete, followed by a conference and a state qualifying meet for varsity only to end the season. If athletes quality for State, they will compete in Waterloo on February 18.

Coach Blunck is looking forward to working with his players and helping them improve throughout the season. “Those that have been bowling for PC for a couple years, I’m hoping to help them improve their averages a little bit. I saw some of that already at our first practice.  For those that haven’t had much experience, I’m looking forward to helping them learn the game and have a good time doing it,” said Blunck.

Blunck also focuses on building character throughout the season. “I like to see the team create some great friendships during the season too. We’ve always demonstrated good sportsmanship, and I don’t see that changing at all. It’s always good to hear from the opposing team that our players treat each other well as well as the other players.”

The PC Bowling teams have their first meet against Bondurant-Farrar on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 1:00 pm at Pella’s Excit-A-Bowl.
