Dollars for Scholars offers scholarships to area seniors

College is expensive; if only there was an easy way to get scholarship money. Except there is: Dollars for Scholars.

Dollars for Scholars is a program of Scholarship America. In Pella, they serve Pella Christian and Pella Community graduates with financial support for postsecondary education. In simpler terms, Dollars for Scholars gives money, donated by local businesses and individuals, in the form of scholarships to seniors pursuing school beyond high school.

Scholarships range in size from $300-$5,000. The message behind the money is simple too: your community values education, is behind you, and wishes you well in your future. So how do seniors get this money?

It’s easy: just fill out an application. All applicants are evaluated with a blind selection process in order to ensure the best matches are made between applicant and scholarship. Don’t be fooled; it’s not too good to be true. Applying is free and receiving a scholarship costs nothing but a thank you card to the donor.

Individuals or businesses interested in sponsoring a scholarship, or seniors with questions about the process can go to pella.dollarsforscholars.org for more information, email PellaDFS@gmail.com or call (641)230-3757.
