Whip up minty milkshake for a green St. Patrick’s Day

There are so many things to celebrate in March, whether it’s March Madness, the coming of spring, or even national salesman day. But my personal favorite is St. Patrick’s day. Here is a fun quick recipe that is perfect for your green-wearing day.

Leprechaun Puke Shake

Ingredients:

– 3 cups vanilla ice cream
– 1 cup whole milk
– 1/4 teaspoon mint extract not peppermint
– 9 drops green food coloring
– whipped cream
– green sanding sugar
– maraschino cherries

Directions:

  1. Mix the ice cream, milk, extract and food coloring on high in your blender.
  2. Top with whipped cream, sanding sugar and a cherry.

This shake tastes just like McDonald’s Shamrock Shake. There isn’t much to this recipe besides blending and measuring, so it doesn’t take long. I find the easy way to blend it all together is by making sure that the ice cream is definitely not rock-solid. You can use very frozen ice cream if you’d like, but my blender starts to smell, so I suggest not to.

The food coloring is completely optional, so adding nine drops exact isn’t necessary, but it sure does give it it’s signature look. My only change to the recipe was that I didn’t use a cherry to decorate because no human should ever consume maraschino cherries.

But I really loved this shake! I’ve always been a fan of McDonalds in March, knowing that I could pick one of these up. But now you can make one yourself! Everything always tastes better homemade anyways.

I give this recipe a 10/10, and would totally slurp this down at a St. Patrick’s party.
