Four events remain in the 2019 performance season for PC’s Chamber Choir. The ensemble, directed by Timothy Van Voorst, is comprised of 20 members from both Cantabile and Concert Choir. Their performances take place at various worship services in Pella and the surrounding area, including Covenant Reformed Church on April 14, Second CRC on April 28, the Tulip Time worship service on May 5, and PC’s Spring Choral Ensembles concert on May 8. “I try to have the choir sing in a variety of churches who send kids to PCHS,” said Van Voorst.
Members of the choir will be performing seven selections, including several hymns and a Hebrew folk tune. “I choose songs that I believe will fit well with the ensembles abilities and strengths,” said Van Voorst, “I also make sure that they have texts that are appropriate for worship services and will encourage the congregations we visit. Since we perform in the spring, I typically pick a couple songs that fit well with Good Friday or Easter. This year we are singing a setting of ‘What Wondrous Love Is This.’”
Van Voorst is pleased with this year’s Chamber Choir, saying “They are dedicated to refining their vocal skills and have grown tremendously since we began rehearsing in November. I’m excited to see how they progress as we continue to sing in area churches.”
