For the first time in four years the PC baseball program has enough new players to create a freshman schedule this season. “It is exciting to provide this schedule to those players to get some good experience. It’s going to be a really fun year,” said head coach Jeff Bruxvoort.
There are 26 games scheduled for varsity, 15 games for JV, and 16 games for the freshmen. Bruxvoort noted the competitive level of the Little Hawkeye Conference, saying, “Winning the close games against tough competition could be a challenge this season.”
One strength will be the team’s level of experience, with 11 out of 12 players returning with varsity experience. “I am really excited for them to build on those experiences,” said Bruxvoort. PC has multiple pitchers and many players that can play in several positions, which also adds flexibility and strength to the team.
PC’s varsity baseball team won their first game on May 20, beating Pleasantville 5-1. The season is looking very promising for the team.
