The PC bowling team wrapped up their season with a fifth place finish on both the girls and boys side at the state qualifying meet at Rose Bowl in Muscatine on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
Consistency was a challenge for the team. ¨I felt that each one of us had one good game, but we still continued to support and encourage each other through our tough game,” said sophomore Austin Moorman.
Bowling coach Rod Blunck was happy with the team’s efforts and dedication this year, despite their not winning a lot of meets. “I really did enjoy working with the kids this season. They always worked on improving themselves and were willing to listen to suggestions from me and other teammates,” he said.
One of the obstacles the team faced was a lack of experienced bowlers. “Then we have to spend some time learning how to select a ball to use and work through the approach and delivery. Once we get over that though, we’re off to the races,” he said.
Through all of this, the bowlers managed to have a great time. ¨The highlight of this bowling season has been seeing my fellow girl bowlers all improve throughout the season,” said senior Abbie Altena.
Having fun at their sport was what made the season meaningful for some. ¨We all loved to bowl!¨ said freshman Avery Ver Hoef.
